Pet Fence FAQs

Q: Is Charleston Pet Stop associated with Invisible Fence®, Petsafe®, PetSafe® Pro, Radio Fence®, Dogwatch®,  DogGuard® or ANY other pet fence brand than Pet Stop®?

A: No, we are not. Charlestone Pet Stop is an authorized Pet Stop brand provider. As an independant contracter, we may sell and provide service for other electric pet containment brands, such as upgrades, trade-ins and exchanges, or replacements, but we are not authorized dealers of any brand other than Pet Stop.  We only provide manufacturer warranties on Pet Stop brand products.

Q: If I have an aggressive dog, can I use an underground fence?

A: No. We will not sell or install an electric pet fence if your dog is aggressive, unless our product is going to be supporting a pre-existing wooden or chain-link fence. It isn't recommended to use corrections on aggressive dogs -- instead, we suggest you contact your vet for alternative training methods.

Q: About how long will it take to train my dog to the new fence?

A: Usually, most dogs are trained to the fence in about 6 days - our gentle training methods drastically reduces the amount of time needed to train, and is more humane than the techniques used by competitors.

Q: Are there any size or age limitations that may affect my pet being trained?

A: Your pet should already be familiar and well-adjusted to their home environment before training can begin. There are no minimum or maximum size limits, but it's recommended that your pet be at least 8 weeks old in order to be trained.

Q: Will the corrections harm my pet?

A: No, the corrections used are harmless, safe, and humane. The shock used is just enough to STARTLE the dog. The energy used in correction is less than than the energy produced in a static shock from carpeting.

Q: When will the batteries need replacing and how can I tell?

A: Battery life depends on how often your dog tests the boundary, but in most cases the battery will last from 3 to 6 months. When the battery is running low, an indicator light will flash on the receiver, giving you a chance to replace the battery before it expires.
